My town is creating and displaying rainbows to bring some cheer during this difficult time.
Here's mine!

1984 Vacation

Moving on in time! This was the summer my son turned 6.
I have lots more photos, but you have to stop somewhere!

Raining Cats and Dogs (and Other Pets)

When my kids were growing up, we had more pets than I could keep track of -
mostly cats and dogs, but also snakes, gerbils, horses, rabbits, chickens, pigeons,
lizards, birds, etc. We also had a fish tank in every room of the house!

I'll be filling this layout in as I come across photos.

Car Trouble (2)

Another version, almost the same, for my son's album.

Car Trouble

Another layout for my daughter's album, featuring two near-disasters
involving our car. I thought I "finished" hers, but I keep finding
more photos! I'll be making another one, almost the same,
for my son's album.

Let's Stay Home

My reaction to the Covid-19 "shelter-in-place" experience.
Staying home isn't so bad for me, as I'm kind of a homebody anyway,
but staying hopeful and sane in the face of the daily barrage of bad news
is a challenge. I've highlighted what I'm doing for myself.

Happy Birthday

For a dear friend who lives far away.

Thanks to Jennifer McGuire, whose tutorial on this technique was very inspiring.
I stamped with a solid layering stamp on dark card stock with white pigment ink
and then used a dye ink that matches the card stock for the next layer.
That's how you get that lovely blue flower.
The outline is heat embossed with silver powder.

1982/Celebrate

Two layouts today for my son's album. The first features a few random shots from 1982,
and the second celebrates Christmas in that same year. I used the same collection
(SEI's Glimmering Boughs) for both pages, but kept the left side "non-Christmas-y."

Favorites

A few favorite moments - lots of playing in the rain where we live, drinking from a beer bottle ???
at age 2 ???,  that horse got a workout every day.

Used a sketch from Scraphappy.org

More NY Xmas

The previous page celebrates Christmas with my husband's side of the family;
this page highlights my side of the family in Manhattan.

I'll Be Home for Christmas

We spent the winter of 1980-81 in Flagstaff, fixing up our house to sell,
and spent Christmas with friends and relatives in New York.

Seriously? Where's Your Smile?

My son was generally a happy, smiley kid - most of his photos show him with a big grin.
But in the series of pictures, he has a much more serious demeanor.
He turned two that year. Was he just discovering deep thoughts?

December Pocket Page #2

My very last page for the In the Pocket class from Scrapbook and Cards Today.
I did a two-page spread for each month of 2019.

Big Sister, Little Brother/Island Life

Two layouts I did today for my son's album.

I was following some of the #calvinball2020 "rules":
geometric patterned paper, washi, arrow, enamel dots,
gold foil, label, handwriting, etc.

1979 Fun

My second layout of the day, starring my son having fun in 1979.

Thank you, Betty

When my son was born in 1978, our friend Betty took pictures of him every week or so.
I really treasure these photos, especially now that he's 41!

It's hard to see in this photo, but the layout is black, white, and silvery shine!

December Pocket Page #1

I took the In the Pocket class from Scrapbook and Cards Today in 2019,
with a two-page spread for each month of the year. I kept up through
October and then lost it, but I've now caught up!

While the right-hand page will be about Christmas, this side is about things that
happened in December that weren't Christmas-related. I chose to include some
photos of Kodiak before and after the tons of snow we've had. I was dogsitting
the little dog playing in the snow, and had to document her joy!
The two smaller photos are of downtown Seattle's Snowflake Lane
festivities and the 50th wedding anniversary party of some friends.

Each month I include a card that documents what I was doing -
Reading, Watching, Listening, Eating, Going.

I tried to keep in mind some of the principles of pocket pages that I
learned in the class. One was the use of color based on the colors in
the photos, and being consistent across pages. This page has a lot of white
and blue, while the second page will have a lot of red, so I used pops of red
on this layout. Another principle is consistency of embellishments and fonts.
I used stars on both pages, and also phrase stickers with a consistent font
and gold stripes.

#calvinball2020 This month I'm participating in ScrapHappy's Calvinball
in which you make as many layouts as you can and collect points for following
the "rules,' which change daily! It's tons of fun and I get lots done!
