Oh Canada

As part of my annual trip "back East," a friend and I decided to take a road trip to Canada.
She especially wanted to see Niagara Falls; I had been as a kid, but was enthused to revisit.
We viewed from the Canadian side, took the boat ride to get up close
and did the Voyage Behind the Falls to get down to the bottom.
It was all great!

The red and white background is suggestive of the Canadian flag, and the maple leaves
are the country's most iconic symbol. Oh Canada is their national anthem.

Wedding Album

This two-page spread is part of a wedding album I'm making for a friend.
White cardstock is covered with beautiful, glittery, striped, flowery vellum!
Wish you could see the sparkle! (You can see a bit of it below.)
There are spots for two 4x6 photos on the left page, and one 4x6
and two 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 photos (or journaling) on the right.
I also fussy cut the vellum flowers on both sides.

Candle Birthday and Wild for You

Two birthday cards I made this week. The one above is for a friend.
I was inspired by a card by Aly Dosdall on the We R Memory Keepers blog.
Washi by WeR, flames by Cricut glitter paper.

The one below is for my grandson, who will turn 5 soon.
Inspired by a card by Heather Ruwe.
All materials from Simon Says Stamp's April Card Kit - Wild and Colorful.

Upcycled Birthday Box

When I finished the Brie cheese that was in this box, I realized that it would be
a perfect fit for the round shaker card I had made for my friend's birthday.
It will also hold the necklace I'm giving her, and she can use it afterwards
for whatever she wants.
All of the papers and embellishments, except the little flowers, are from
Bo Bunny's Secret Garden collection. The inside and the bottom
are decorated as well.

Round Shaker Birthday Card

Second attempt at a round shaker card, with a pastel rainbow background
and a rainbow of sequins. Much better! Inspired by Simon Says Stamp's
(Although the outer circle cardstock and the glitter cardstock word YOU look pink,
they are really white.)

Cardstock - Bazzill
Glitter cardstock - Cricut
Inks - Simon Says Stamp
Sentiment - Lawn Fawn

Spring

This was my first attempt at a rainbow shaker card. It was to be a birthday card
for a friend, but I was unhappy with the rainbow background and I also used too
many rainbow sequins. So it became a Spring design piece - I'll just tack it up
somewhere. Going to try again!

I was inspired by Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge - Make a Rainbow,
and also by Laura Bassen's Round Shaker Card.

Happy Easter

Will be sending these to my two youngest grandchildren, James (4)
and Jesse (8), who live in Guam. Thanks to Cricut for the designs,
and Bazzill for the card stock. Below: the inside sentiments.

My Favorite Things

This little teddy bear, my very first, lives on my bed now.
He was given to me by my favorite aunt and uncle, Louise and Robert Walker.
Aunt Louise also made the afghan. Lots of favorites here!

Title - My Mind's Eye
Word stickers - Fancy Pants, Heidi Grace, and Bella Blvd.
Little teddy and circle - Cricut Air 2

This is my last layout for Get It Scrapped's Calvinball. I did well this year -
In March I made 37 12x12 layouts, 20 6x6 layouts for a little album, and 14 cards!

Keep on Truckin'

Finally got around to scrapping a road trip I did in (wait for it...) 1971! I love to use maps on layouts and this was a perfect opportunity. It's very busy, but I couldn't help myself!

I had a ton of Polaroid photos from that trip, so I decided to use a bunch of them on the second page. I still remember special moments from those two months as if it were yesterday.

All of this month I'm participating in Get It Scrap's Calvinball, a fun time of doing as many layouts as you can, and scoring points for "following the rules." I got a lot of points on these two pages!

Kavin's album

It occurred to me recently that my oldest grandson will graduate in two years - I have a lot of catching up to do on his album that I'll give to him! I did both of these today; they are 15 years apart!

This was the day he was born in 2001, with my son holding him.

No Title - The Last Page

I always love making the first and last pages of an album - the first introduces and the last sums it up. I had these photos of Hawaii and Guam that I'm not using anywhere else, and I thought I'd use them to help me say what I feel about travel.

Paper - We R Memory Keepers Jet Set
Globe - Echo Park Memos Getaway
Planes - Cricut Going Places

Kids Being Kids

My grandkids in Guam do the same things that kids do everywhere - birthday parties, Girl Scouts, block building, dress-up, and so on. This is a pretty busy layout for me, but then, that's what kids are - busy!

Dogs of War

Another LO from my Guam album. A fascinating story - knew about dogs working with the military
in Iraq and Afghanistan, but didn't know they played a role in WW II as well. They truly are
"man's best friend."

Meet My Goals

I took a break from my vacation album and made this chart/layout
for some of my goals for March - eating 5 fruits and vegetables each day,
doing my stretch/exercise routine daily, and decluttering a few items every day.
I have to keep myself accountable!
This is my 8th layout for Calvinball.

War in the Pacific/Get Wet

This layout shows us on my first time in the water in Guam. I only got my feet wet, but it was heavenly - so warm and clear! Why didn't we have our suits with us?

Guam had a big part in World War II - the Japanese attacked on December 8, 1941 and controlled the island for 2 1/2 years. Everywhere you go there are monuments and memorials. Shown here is the visitor center, a Japanese submarine, and the site of Marine Corps barracks that were attacked (now the site of the school that my grandchildren attend).

Goofy/Fun Things

Here's two more layouts for my Guam trip album; these two are just for fun! In the one above, my grandkids (and their grandmother) are just being Goofy. The kids discovered Photo Booth on my iPad and couldn't get enough of it!

The one to the right showcases some fun and interesting things I saw in Guam. From wild chickens to laws that keep gas prices the same at every station, Guam has its quirks just like every other place!

I'm still playing along with Calvinball at Get It Scrapped - racking up the points for my layouts!

Hawaii/Pearl Harbor

I went to Honolulu on my way to Guam - oh, so warm!
Although I had been to Hawaii before, I'd never been to Pearl
Harbor. That's my birthday, so I knew I had to get there someday.
It was lovely and very sobering.
