Piece of the Past

Jesse at Russian Culture Camp
The first non-Natives to settle in Kodiak were from Russia, so that's a very important part of our history and culture. My granddaughter (on the left) attended Russian Culture Camp last summer - on this night they performed balalaika music and traditional folk dances for us. The page was inspired by Bo Bunny's March Sketch Challenge. All of the paper and the photo border are from Bo Bunny's Somewhere in Time collection.

Prom

Glen Cove High School - June 1965

Just look at that hair, will ya? Check out the long white gloves, too. I can't believe it, but that prom was 50 years ago! I did love that dress - light blue dotted swiss. Don't you love how my date wore a blue suit to match? We had a great time, and we're still friends!

Can't identify the paper used, nor much of anything else. "Fabulous" is an Ali Edwards die from Technique Tuesday, and the pink corner borders on the photo are Spellbinders Botanical Swirls and Accents. The flower is from Scappin' Supplies. Wish I knew where I got the Prom alphas - love them and they're almost gone.

Here Comes the Sun

The sun peeks through the trees as it rises on a winter morning.

It's a Jungle Out There

I went with my granddaughter and daughter to see a local production of the musical Tarzan, and it was awesome! It was extra special because one of her swim instructors played Tarzan and her music/PE teacher played Jane.

Older paper - no information about it. The alphas are Memories Captured from Fancy Pants. I inked the photo mats with Hero Arts Grass, and Memento Dew Drop Cantaloupe, Tangelo, Rich Cocoa, and Teal Zeal.

November

The last two layouts in the Fall series for my daughter and her family. Just a few photos of their everyday activities - Daisy Scouts, a tea party, "exercising" (we'd call it playing), and just sitting cozily by the fire.

All of the paper and embellishments are from SEI's Autumn's Smile collection. I've splattered the paper with Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain.

Happy Thanksgiving

Another two-page layout - this one featuring Thanksgiving, the first ever with both of my kids and all five grandchildren. The first page is based on this week's sketch from scrapbooksteals Mid Week Mojo, and the second from a Get It Scrapped sketch. They are part of my participation in Get It Scrapped's Calvinball activity - fun!

Most of the paper is old and of unknown origin. Alphas are from Authentique's Curiosity and Fancy Pants' Memories Captured. The little "A Time For" sticker is from Jillibean Soup, the clock stamp from Techniques Tuesday's Timeless, the leaf and "Family" sticker from SEI's Autumn's Smile, and I cut the "Happy Thanksgiving" title on my Cricut.

October

The next two in the Fall series for my daughter's family. There wasn't room for a note on each photo, so I numbered them and put notes on the journal card.
Most of the paper, the large leaves, and the burlap are from SEI's Autumn's Smile collection. The yellow glitter paper is from DCWV, the alphas from ek success, and the journal card from We R Memory Keepers.

This two-page layout is part of the album I'm doing for my daughter's family. These "scenes" from September will finish up that month. The September page is based on this week's sketch challenge from scrapbooksteals.com's Mid Week Mojo.

Paper: SEI Autumn's Smile
Title Alphas: American Crafts Amy Tangerine
Journal Card: Fancy Pants Papa
Journal Spots: Jillbean Soup Today Hexies

The Mighty Hunters

The Mighty Hunters
Two more in the fall section of the album for my daughter's family. Last fall a high school friend came back to Kodiak for a week and enjoyed a lot of hunting and fishing with my son-in-law. No deer but lots of salmon! The animal paw print is a Kodiak brown bear. The blue accordion album holds 4 more photos.

Most of the materials are from the SEI Autumn's Smile collection.
Fishing was much more productive

Happy Birthday Jesse

Granddaughter's 6th Birthday

Another 2-page layout in the series for my daughter and her family - events from last fall. My granddaughter celebrated her Golden Birthday - she turned 6 on the 6th!

Most of the materials are from the Autumn's Smile collection from SEI. Alphas are from Making Memories and EK Success. The journal card is from Fancy Pants.

And She's Off!

First Day of School - 2014
First Day of School - 2014

I'm working on a series of layouts for my daughter and her family - currently I'm scrapbooking the fall months of 2014. Here's my granddaughter on the first day of school, and of course her little brother had to tag along. I love this Autumn's Smile collection from SEI - the colors are so rich and all of the elements are lovely. Just about everything you see is from that kit.  And I'm quite taken with the journaling pockets (one within the other) - I filled them up with the story of how she ended up in 1st grade, and information about her cousins, who go to the same school, and the grades they're in. I'm playing along with Get It Scrapped's Calvinball game and trying to do two layouts every day.

Wrestling Mania

Younger Grandson at Kid Wrestling

Older Grandson at Kid Wrestling

These two layouts show two of my grandsons at their final wrestling tournament for the season this last weekend. Both are based on sketches from scrapbooksteals.com's Mid Week Mojo (see sketches below). They could be a two-page spread, but will actually go into two different albums, one for each boy, which is why they both have a title.

The chipboard alphas are from We R Memory Keepers Jet Set collection, and the wrestling stickers are from Scrapbook Customs.

Light Up the Night

Eiffel Tower at night - May 2008

Finally getting around to scrapbooking a trip to Paris in 2008! I really liked making this layout - having a black background, choosing the blues and golds to match the photo, those fancy alphas, having a title cluster up in the corner, enhancing the little journaling card - it was so much fun!

Margaret and Marci Go to Washington D.C.

My friend and I went to DC 6 years ago; we had been there some years before but hadn't had time to see much, so this time we crammed it all in! Had a really terrific time!

This two-page spread is not quite complete - journaling, dates, and a couple of small embellishments will be added. All of the paper is from Keller's Creations, ribbon from Jilly Girl, and the inks are Memento Dew Drops Ladybug and Danube Blue. (Inking the paper was an afterthought, as I thought it looked too bare - won't do that again!)

M & M Sisters

My sister and I were M & M

With both of our names beginning with M, my sister and I called ourselves "M & M." This layout is another in the series of my life, for the albums I'm making for my two grown children and their families.  It's based on a sketch from Get It Scrapped. Most of the paper is from October Afternoon's Oh Darling and My Mind's Eye's Now and Then collections, the pink frame and most of the washi is from Pink Fresh, the M's are from the Oh Darling collection, and the journal note is from Elle's Studio Tiny Tags.
