And She'll Have Fun Fun Fun...

For my granddaughter's album - fun times in Florida.

Made this layout as part of ScrapHappy's Calvinball Challenge,
which has a series of rules that change on a daily basis - crazy fun!
Some rules followed in this project: pink, star, heart, enamel dot,
double matting, sun, arrows, torn paper, butterfly, torn paper,
sunglasses, flower, boat, doily, green, song lyrics and more!

Big Benefit

This is the first assignment in the Get Organized Challenge:
Decide what the Big Benefit will be for getting your craft supplies organized
and select a reward for each of the eight weeks of class.
I do the Challenge at least once a year; it keeps me on track!

My all-time favorite Graphic 45 collection - Voyage Beneath the Sea.
Had fun decorating the envelopes a bit, too.

Life in Guam

My grandson was only between 4 and 7 when they lived in Guam, so he won't remember much, but I want to help him remember what everyday life was like, not just the special events and fun places they went.
The journaling lists aspects of life in Guam: warm clear water, outside parties, wild chickens!

Fabulous Cakes

My daughter makes fabulous cakes - these are not even the best ones,
but they're ones she made for my granddaughter.
Busier than my usual layout - actually, I'm not crazy about it.

Florida Everglades

My daughter and family are Coast Guard, so I've had many travel adventures as they moved from station to station. They were in Florida twice, and this little road trip was during their first posting there.
This is for my granddaughter's album.

Birthday Cards

I have some friends with birthdays coming up soon, and it was Altenew Day in my craft room!

For the first card I used Altenew's Craft-a-Flower Tulip Layering Die Set. This is a die set that gives you 3 layers for the flowers and two layers for the leaves and produces an amazing effect. It's like stamp layering but with dies so they have dimension! They are fairly easy to line up, and once you've done it, it's a snap! (There is a layering guide, which is helpful.) You can vary the colors, of course, since tulips come in all wonderful shades.

I also used the matching Gradient Cardstock, which comes in color sets of a small size (3x6), perfect for die cutting. The card base, with white on the inside, was from Hero Arts, but unfortunately isn't available anymore. The sentiment is a Scripty Saying from Lawn Fawn.

My second card was modeled after one by Laurie Willison in an Altenew blog. I white heat embossed the flowers (from a very old and unidentified stamp set) on white cardstock and then blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks: Tattered Rose and Spiced Marmalade. (Yes, believe it or not, that's a pink background; poor lighting when I took the picture!) I cut that piece into strips of varying sizes and mounted them with foam tape on a card base. Such a lovely design! The sentiment is the layered Sentiment Suite die from Pinkfresh Studio. (For fun I dotted on the 'i" with a tiny pink enamel heart!)

If you haven't already discovered Altenew, I hope you'll take a look. Their products are high quality and very beautiful, and their two blogs (for card makers and scrapbookers) are full of wonderful ideas and inspiration!

Gym Star

We took my youngest grandson, 16 months old at the time, to a children's gym,
and it was fun watch him. He was very serious and quite hesitant, but he took
part in the activities and enjoyed himself.
