The last, and first, page of my daughter's album!

I usually finish an album before making the introductory layout;

I guess I want to see the big picture first!

Good Times

Some random photos of my daughter as I near the end of her album.

There are so many more pictures I'd like to use, but this album is big enough!

The Graduate

When my daughter graduated from 8th grade at our little village school,

she was one of seven girls, the largest graduating class ever!

The newspaper clipping speaks for itself!

And Away She Goes!

My daughter's high school graduation.

I couldn't find any actual graduation photos (I'm sure I will next week!)

but the program is original and sits on top of the page protector

so you can take it out and read it.

And Happy Endings

This is the companion page to the Happy Beginnings layout I did the other day

about the building of the new school in Chiniak. The colors are opposite - coral 

background with black, grey, and white accents. Once again, the program will sit 

in a pocket on the front of the page protector so that it can be taken out to read.

She's a Senior!

Getting close to the end of my daughter's album!

Class colors were purple, silver, and black - hence the color scheme.

(Poor lighting due to photographing at night.)

School Stories

More old fuzzy photos that tell the stories of school activities -

making marionettes, the annual music program, book projects, gymnastics, weaving.

Of course, my daughter is featured in every picture, but in reality the entire

school (grades K-10) was involved.

Happy Beginnings

Groundbreaking for our new village school back in 1983.

That is a copy of the program, which will actually be

Folk Festival

I'm so glad I saved these old newspaper clippings!

This story is about an International Folk Festival we had in our school in 1984.

My daughter picked Greenland, and was featured in the article!

Queen

Second page of a spread about my daughter's 4H and Rodeo activities.

Rodeo

Jenn and Daisy participated in rodeo and 4H for several years.

The newspaper clipping of Daisy was published in 1992, and 

I'm guessing that the other news story and the photos were in

that same time frame. I've been saving the rodeo paper for years!

Last Year in Chiniak

My daughter stayed in our little rural school all the way through her 

sophomore year before moving on to the high school in town.

There were about 35 students that year in grades K-10; it appears to be 

more because the babies that had their pictures taken were included.

Spread Your Wings and Fly

1991 - the year my daughter was a sophomore and was selected to go to the HOBY

(Hugh O'Brien Youth) Leadership conference in Anchorage. I didn't have any photos from the event,

so I improvised with some online info and a picture of her and her brother.

1989

1989 was the year my daughter graduated from the 8th grade at the Chiniak School.

It was a fun year for us in many ways, but this layout focuses on school activities.

Teachers to Remember

These are the teachers I was honored to work with in our little village school.

Both of my children benefited so much from their expertise, caring and friendship.

It Was a Very Good Year

New Glasses

This old glasses paper from Echo Park was so perfect for this page about my daughter

getting glasses, and then the glasses stamps (origin unknown for the plain ones, Dear Lizzie for the heart-shaped), which I stamped and fussy-cut, were the icing on the cake.

We Write

I have lots of paper mementos from my daughter's growing-up years,

and I'm trying to fit some of them in where I can. The Writing Consortium was an all-school
effort, and the top left and bottom right images are the cover and the title page from the book
they created of their writing. My daughter's story is featured as well.

SunKissed

A trip to NY in the summer of 1984.

I have lots of paper mementos for my daughter, but haven't used much in the album.

Here we have some school newsletter writing, part of a report card, and a newspaper photo

from when our village got phone service for the first time.

1983 - Hello New School

This was the year our tiny Alaskan village got a brand new school.

My daughter was 8.
