I made this little mini-book for the Children's Librarian at our local public library. For years she has been sharing the love of books and reading with our children and grandchildren - prior to her work at the library, she was a school librarian. Below you can see the front and the back. It can be worn as a necklace or simply hung from the cord. Most of the materials came from the October Afternoon Public Library collection. Many thanks to Shirley Pando for the YouTube tutorial.

C is for Cat necklace book
I made this little necklace book is for my 7-year-old granddaughter for Christmas - she is an über cat lover! (Unfortunately she can't have one due to allergies.) All of the paper is from Graphic 45's Raining Cats and Dogs," and I've entered it in the Graphic 45 December Challenge. Below you can see the inside, first the front (house cats) and then the back (wild cats). I think she'll love it!

Let It Snow - December Calendar Page
I finally finished my 2015 calendar today - here is December. It brings me great joy to look at my calendar each day and remember the fun I had making the layout. For the most part I didn't use photos; I tried instead to convey a feeling for the month using paper and embellishments. This layout is my take on Bo Bunny's October Sketch Challenge.
Most of the materials used on this layout are from Bo Bunny's Altitude collection. I really love the little cut-out cards - the ones at the top are removable. Everything is embellished with Stickles; I wish you could see the sparkle!
October and November Calendar Pages
I've been making my own calendar this year, one or two months at a time. On the left is the October page, suitably spooky. All of the paper is old and of unknown origin. I made the bat with my Cricut.
To the right is the November page. Where I live in Alaska, we don't have vibrant colors in the fall, but rather more muted, subdued shades. I was hoping that my calendar page would reflect that. Just about everything on the layout is from an SEI kit, Autumn's Smile, but the flowers are from Prima.

Cozy Nest
My son found the bird's nest in the vent when he was pressure washing the house. It had been abandoned. The layout was inspired by Bo Bunny's August sketch challenge. All of the materials except the bird are from Bo Bunny's Enchanted Garden collection. The felt bird is from Basically Bare and the inks are all from Ranger. Sparkle added with Stickles.

Who's the Elf Here?
My 3-year-old grandson wouldn't visit with Santa when they went to The Santa Claus House in North Pole, Alaska, but he did find something intriguing about the elf! The layout was inspired by Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojo. All of the materials are from Teresa Collins' Candy Cane Lane collection. I hid the journaling under the red flap, and more pictures under the striped flap.

Piece of the Past (Version 2)
This is the second time I've done this event; the first was for a calendar, but this one is for a scrapbook.
The first non-Natives to settle in Kodiak were from Russia, so that's a very important part of our history and culture. My granddaughter attended Russian Culture Camp last summer - on this night they performed balalaika music and traditional folk dances for us. The layout was inspired by a
Get It Scrapped sketch.

2nd Birthday
This two-page spread highlights my grandson's 2nd birthday last year. He didn't know what a birthday was, but he sure had a good time! The first page (above) was inspired by ScrapbookSteals sketch challenge. I had more photos that I wanted to use, so I went ahead and made a second coordinating page.

Happy Trails
This was an interesting layout for me, as I changed direction completely while I was working on it. At first I thought I would go with a woodsy look with greens, browns, and blues, and have "trails" leading from one photo to another. But as I got into it, I remembered that it was a beautiful sunny day and that the destination was the beach, so I switched over to bright sunny colors and incorporated the pink from their jackets. I made one big "trail" with washi tape and included lots of arrows, chevrons, and slants to give it that diagonal direction. I was really happy with it in the end!

Yes I was a baby once...
I'm making albums about my life for my kids, so I make two of every layout. Usually they look almost exactly alike (depending on what supplies I have on hand) but this time I did the same layout with two completely different color schemes.
Left: Everything in this layout is from Bo Bunny (Heritage, Somewhere in Time, Enchanted Garden, and Madeleine).
Below: Paper is from My Mind's Eye and Carol Wilson, alphas from EK Success and Studio Calico, and embellishments from Bo Bunny.
Layout was inspired by Bo Bunny's June sketch challenge (see below).
